A remarkable piece of military architecture...
Between France and Spain, this 17th century fort was built by Vauban, who understood the strategic importance of this border-crossing point of the Perthus (who saw the Roman legions passing through on their way to Africa, and even Hannibal and his elephants).
From the top of the fort, there is a dominant view over the Roussillon plain and that of Empordà.
Open every day from June until the end of September, from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.
