- St Martin du Canigou abbey

Under the protection of the Canigou mountain...
A witness to Romanesque Catalan art, the abbey is situated in wild mountains, and was built by Guilred, Count of Cerdagne who withdrew there in 1035. The sculptures on the cloister in pink marble date from the 12th and 13th centuries and represent profane scenes. The abbey is inhabited by a religious community throughout the year.
