In the foothills of the Canigou...
Flagship monument of Catalan history, situated in a valley in the heart of the Romanesque Conflent and at the foot of the Canigou, the Abbey of St Michel de Cuxa is an exceptional architectural ensemble with the large pre-Romanesque church dating from the 10th century, the Romanesque-lombard bell tower and the remains of the Romanesque cloister dating from the 12th century.
The abbey is inhabited by a religious community throughout the year.
