Discover the works of the "Master of Cabestany", mysterious sculptor...
This anonymous sculptor is only mentioned today when we refer to the spandrel of the Assumption, sole vestige of the lost archway, conserved in the parish church in the village of Cabestany, in the Perpignan plain.
The centre holds replicas of hundreds of pieces of artwork made during the 12th century. The idea is to be able to admire up close, replicas of pieces of artwork that measure 6 to 9 metres high in Romanesque buildings.
Thus, the spandrel of Mary of Cabestany illustrates an "apocryphal gospel", sent from the heavens from the Virgin's belt to the non-believer Saint Thomas, as evidence of the Assumption.
